Jeff Walters Lord Chamberlain’s Men Lord Chamberlain’s Men was an acting company that Shakespeare had worked with for the majority of his career. The acting company was formed during the reign of Queen Elizabeth but was first introduced under Henry the 1st. There were many men involved with the acting company and their names were, Richard Burbage, William Shakespeare, John Heminge, Augustine Phillips, Thomas Pope, George Bryan, Richard Cowly and Samuel Gilbourne. All of these men contributed to the company in their own way. Also in 1630 when King James took the thrown the company changed their name to The King’s Men. The company performed many great plays, but the plays them selves are not the most interesting thing about this company. Rather the place where they performed those plays is probably the most interesting thing about this company. They had many different theatres that they regularly performed at such as The Theatre and Curtain Theatre… But the most fascinating place they performed was, The Globe Theatre. The company managed to perform in this amazing theatre because of their close ties to Shakespeare.
